Testing is planned for the Brown County State Lake, following concerns voiced by a recent visitor to the location.
Apparently, after having contact with the water, the person broke out with a skin rash, and reported the matter to local authorities.
Suspecting, but not yet confirming blue green algae as the cause, the Kansas Department of Health and Environment has been notified of the incident.
According to KDHE spokeswoman Miranda Steele, samples will be taken from the lake early next week, with results likely to be known by Thursday, July 12th.
Steele says, despite any official findings at this point, anyone who sees what they suspect may be algae blooms should avoid having contact with the lake water.
