The Jackson County Commission has agreed to provide funding for two community events.
The commission this week voted to allocate 25-hundred dollars for the “ Jazz on the Square” event being hosted by Holton Main Street on September 15th.
Hometown jazz artist Jim Seeley will perform for the fund-raiser that will benefit the local Main Street program.
Main Street Director Bob Carlson said tickets will cost 25-dollars and include three samples of wine and food pairings.
Carlson said they have already identified $10,500 in expenses.
After reviewing a request by the city of Netawaka for funding for the community’s 4th of July celebration, the commission voted to allocate $250 for fireworks this year.
In other business, Trish McAllister with Homestead Affordable Housing met with the commission to request the payment of the 50-thousand dollars in economic development funds designated for emergency and essential repairs for senior households in Jackson County.
The commissioners encumbered the funds December 12th of last year, provided matching grant funds were obtained.
McAllister said that matching grant funds are now in place. The commission agreed to issue payment for the county’s share at the end of June.
