The south side of Brown County can expect a seasonal sight Friday, as 800 cyclists, from Bike Across Kansas make their way into the local area.
Brown County Sheriff John Merchant has been in communication with the organization, working to alert motorists to be aware, all day Friday, as the riders roll through(Play Audio)
During their time in Brown County, welcome receptions are planned, including several church youth groups in Horton arranging a food stand for the cyclists to visit.
The riders began their 475-mile journey last Friday and will wrap up their ride this Friday at the Missouri River Bank in Elwood.
Now an annual event, billed as a recreational and social rally, the first Bike Across Kansas was held in June of 1975.
