Security lights are needed on the stairwells of the Brown County Courthouse.
That’s the view of Brown County Treasurer Cheryl Lippold who took the concern before the County Commission Monday.
She asked that they budget for the purchase. Additionally, Lippold has concerns regarding the handicapped accessible parking around the Courthouse square.
She bases her view on experience, telling the Commission she recently had a difficult time assisting a customer into the Courthouse due to the location of the parking and the handicapped accessible ramps into the building.
Commissioners agreed that the issue needs to be addressed, with the Commission to review the layout to see if there’s a solution to the problem.
Lippold, additionally, told Commissioners the new motor vehicle program, which has proven to be problematic statewide, is now improving.
She says the key problem that remains is the inability to reach the State of Kansas for support when problems arise.
