For the first time since 1977, Atchison County will have their flood plain maps redone.
GIS Tech Tony Redden presented the plans to Commissioners Wednesday which will use new aerial imagery equipment.
County Commissioner Jeff Schuele says the request came from FEMA, as they need more specifics from the county.

Commissioners also heard from a concerned citizen about a ravine drop-off, causing a dangerous dip near 272nd and Rawlins Road.
Schuele says the Road and Bridge Supervisor will address the situation and also look to smooth out a culvert further down the line on Rawlins Road.
