The most profitable fundraiser in the organization's history.
That fact is being celebrated by the Brown County Humane Society, following the success of last Saturday's slow pitch softball tournament, held at Hiawatha's Brunning Park.
Six teams, comprised of members from across the region, played a combined 15 games, with “The Fly Squirrels” from Seneca named the winning team.
The weekend tournament, sponsored by 29 area businesses and organizations, raised over 25-hundred dollars for the Brown County Humane Society, courtesy of team sponsorships, team registrations, and t-shirt and concession sales.
Humane Society member Seth Tollefson is pleased with the outcome, saying the funds raised are a good step forward in the organization's goal of purchasing a van for dog transportation(Play Audio)
All funds raised from the tournament are earmarked for the van purchase.
Meanwhile, as that goal moves forward, the Humane Society is seeking the possible donation of a vehicle to also assist with animal transport, as well as other functions of the society.
Anyone who can help with that goal should contact contact Phyllis Shaefer at 785-742-2475.
