Controversial comments from a Seneca preacher go national, following an article published Wednesday morning in the Huffington Post.
At issue is a sermon delivered by Pastor Curtis Knapp of Seneca's New Hope Baptist Church regarding what appears to be his call for the government to kill homosexuals.
The Huffington Post provided audio of the sermon in question(Play Audio)
Others sermons by Knapp are posted online at sermonaudio.com, bearing such titles as
“How Feminism is Killing Marriage” and “Why Catholics Worship Mary.”
Attempts to reach Knapp, at the church for comment, have been unsuccessful.
Knapp's comments are the latest in a series of statements made by ministers across the nation that have outraged the gay and lesbian community, and come on the heels of President Obama speaking in favor of gay marriage.
Following the publication of the Huffington Post article, Seneca is placed in the spotlight, with national media converging on the Nemaha County community in an attempt to contact Knapp.
Knapp has served as Pastor at the New Hope Baptist Church since February 2004.
