Memorial Day was observed Saturday in the Brown County community of Everest, where the third annual Military Honor Ceremony was held through the afternoon.
Crowds gathered first in the Everest Middle School Gymnasium, and then moved to the park, as eleven honorees received recognition.
The honors were given to the MIA, KIA and POW heroes from the Everest community. However, Reuben Sullivan, Chairman of the Everest Park and Military Honor Guard, says another group, sometimes forgotten to history, was also included among those receiving recognition(Play Audio)
The ceremony, for the eleven honorees, included the first time raising of the flag on the new 35-foot Everest flag pole, along with the placement of bricks, in their honor, at the new flag plaza.
The ceremonies, in Everest, also included a special featured guest, as Harley Davidson Executive and Decorated Marine Colonel, John Lowry, served as Keynote Speaker for the event.
