Kansas legislators adjourned Sunday evening after passing a 14-plus billion dollar budget for the state.
State Representative Jerry Henry says the budget stuck pretty close to making sure funding was directed towards the core services.
Henry voted against the final budget, but says there will be slight increase in education funding.

He says he expects Governor Sam Brownback to sign the comprehensive tax plan Monday.
Henry voted against the plan, saying the plan will see troubles down the line.

Legislators learned sad news late last night as Alden Representative Bob Bethell was killed in a single vehicle car accident in Wabunsee County, driving home after adjournment.
Representative Henry says Bethell was a close colleague of his.

Henry says Bethell’s goal when walking into the capitol was to work for the vulnerable citizens of the state, namely the elderly, disabled and poor.
He was 69-years-old.
