Highland Community College freshman basketball player Kathy Thomas has signed to play at the University of Iowa.
Thomas was a part of a freshman class that won the most games in school history at 28-4, a second place finish in the Jayhawk Conference, and a district runner-up. She was named Jayhawk Conference Player of the Year as well as first team All-American.
“I think she has a great opportunity at Iowa and we appreciate the contributions she made to our program this season,” said Scottie head coach BJ Smith.
“We are thrilled to have Kathy join our team,” Iowa head coach Lisa Bluder said. “She had a tremendous freshman year at Highland Community College, where she was an NJCAA All-American as a freshman.
She will help fill the void that we have at our point guard position. It’s also nice that we will have her as a Hawkeye for three seasons.”
