Improvements Planned At Nemaha Co. Fairgrounds in Seneca
Improvements will be made to the buildings at the Nemaha County Fairgrounds in Seneca.
County Commissioners Monday gave representatives of the Nemaha County Fairboard approval to move forward with improvements to the three buildings at the fairgrounds an estimated cost of $115,000. Funding will come from county capital outlay funds.
The improvements will include the addition of electric conduit and outlets at all three buildings, replacement of windows and doors, replacement of a tin roof along with other work.
The work is expected to be completed before the fair in July.
Following a public hearing drawing no comment, the commission approved a resolution granting a ten-year tax abatement to KSI Conveyors of rural Sabetha for a recent building expansion project.
Nancy Gafford, director of the Rural Development Association of Northeast Kansas, presented commissioners with a cost benefit analysis of the project. As a requirement for the abatement, the company must hire six new employees. Gafford said they have already hired 4 new employees.
The Kansas Board of Tax Appeals must give final approval to the abatement.
And the commission approved the appropriation of $25,385 to Nemaha County Home Health and Hospice from the Henrietta and Leonard Broxterman Estate for the purchase of software and equipment.
