Fishing Tournament to Honor Fallen Ks Guardsmen
The eighth annual Kansas Veteran's Memorial Bass Tournament in memory of fallen Kansas Guard members will be held Saturday. The bass tournament will take place at Coffey County Lake, located south of the Wolf Creek Generating Station near Burlington on Highway 75. The tournament, sponsored by the 2nd Battalion, 130th Field Artillery Family Support Group, is to celebrate the freedom Americans have and to honor the ten Kansas Guard soldiers who have given the ultimate sacrifice.? The boat-fishing bass tournament will begin at 6 a.m. with check-in and pre-tournament announcements and will end at 12:30 p.m. with weigh-in. There is no entry fee for the tournament. Prizes and trophies will be awarded to the top five places. Bratwurst, hamburgers and side dishes will be served at the end of the event; a $5 donation is requested.
