Bids were opened at the Doniphan County Commission meeting Monday for two projects.
Pierce Heating and Cooling of Bendena submitted the lone bid for the installation of air conditioning units in nine courthouse offices in the amount of $76,445.
The commission took no action pending a determination of the cost to upgrade the courthouse’s electrical system to handle the A-C systems.
Bids were also opened for the placement of a two inch overlay on Last Chance Road from 150th Road to just north of 180th Road.
Bids were received from two companies. Herzog Contracting of Elwood submitted the apparent low base bid in the amount of $414,878. Bettis Asphalt and Construction of Topeka submitted a base bid of $521,558.
Alternate bids were also received from the two companies for the removal of an existing curve on 180th Road, formerly old K-7 Highway. The project would tie-in Last Chance and 180th Roads with a 4-way intersection.
No action was taken pending a review of the bids by Commissioner David Van Laar who was absent from the meeting, and project engineer Dave Beach with Schwab-Eaton.
