Dog owners in Humboldt may have to shell out more cash if their furry friends bark too much, after the Humboldt City Council approved a resolution Tuesday night to amend the waiver fine schedule for barking dogs.
The previous fine was $25 for each offense. The new fine schedule in $50 for a first offense, and that doubles to $100 for a second offense and $200 for a third offense.
In other business, the Humboldt Council hired a manager and two assistant managers for the swimming pool. Cindy Riley will be the Manager, and Cody Drier and Stacy Fankhauser will be Assistant Managers this summer.
Also approved were the newly elected officers for the Humboldt Volunteer Fire Department. Rex Kappel will continue as Chief, Rick Dettman will be the Assistant Chief, and Danny DeJonge will be the Steward.
The council held off on awarding a bid to mow the cemetery. The council tabled action on the bids after one of the bids came in significantly lower than two other bids that were received. The council wants to meet with the low bidder before awarding a contract.
The council approved a request from the Humboldt Foundation to hold a wine tasting at the Library on May 26th. And the council also approved a request from the Auditorium Board to place a flag on the Auditorium.
