Bobcats Celebrate Emily Maresh Grand Slam
Winds up to 50 miles per hour did not deter the Peru State College (PSC) Bobcat softball team as they swept Avila University on Senior and Parents Day on Sunday.
The 'Cats won the first game of the double header 5-1 and took the nightcap with the winds still howling and the clouds covering the sun by a score of 8-3.
With the sweep, Peru State evened its record in the Heart of America Athletic Conference (HAAC) at 6-6 and are 24-18 overall. The 6-6 mark puts PSC into a tie with Evangel for fifth in the conference with six regular-season games to go. Avila fell to 2-12 in the HAAC and 9-31 overall.
The Bobcats will be on the road on Tuesday as they travel to Canton, Mo., to face the Culver-Stockton Wildcats. The HAAC double header will start at 3 p.m.
Then, on Wednesday, PSC will play their final home games of the regular season as they host their former MCAC nemesis, the Bellevue University Bruins. The double header is scheduled to start at 3 p.m.
Over the weekend, PSC is scheduled to play HAAC opponent Benedictine College on Saturday beginning at 1 p.m. The, the 'Cats will travel to Hastings on Sunday to face the Broncos in a double header scheduled for 1 p.m.
