Benedictine College Names New Dorm
04/13/2012

After going over all the student suggestions, Benedictine College has decided that the new men’s residence hall, currently under construction on Second Street just past Cray Searberg Hall, will be known as St. Michael Hall.

The name, which honors St. Michael the Archangel, harkens back to a previous building on campus, which also carried the name St. Michael Hall.

The name also fits with student traditions like praying the St. Michael Prayer after Mass.

St. Michael Hall will be three stories, approximately 40,000 square feet and will house 152 sophomore and junior men. It is scheduled for completion in time for use in the fall of 2012.

The new facility will be the 8th new residence hall opened on the Atchison campus since the long-abandoned Freshman Hall was renovated into Ferrell Hall in 2000.
