The famed Kansas City Chorale will perform in the Chapel of Mount St. Scholastica Monastery in Atchison on Sunday afternoon.
The concert the begins at three is being brought to Atchison by Concerts at the Mount, an organization that replaced the Atchison Community Concert Association, which previously brought the Chorale to town.
Conducted by Charles Bruffy, the 24-mixed voice choir is in its 30th Anniversary season.
Bruffy received his Bachelor’s Degree from Missouri Western State College in St. Joseph and a Master’s Degree in vocal performance from the Conservatory of Music at the University of Missouri, Kansas City. He also conducts the Kansas City Symphony Chorus and the Phoenix Chorale.
Two of the Chorale’s 13 recordings have won Grammy Awards. Those wins came from classical music compositions.
They perform spiritual and folk music but, their forte is classical music.
Sister Janelle Maes says it’s not your typical classical music.
