The Village of Nemaha, in Nemaha County Nebraska is notifying the public of a violation of the drinking water microbiological standards. The violation consists of four total coliform samples testing positive during the month of March. The standard is that no more than one sample per month may be positive for total coliforms for systems that collect fewer than 40 samples per month.
You do not need to boil your water or take other corrective actions. However, if you have health concerns, consult your doctor.
People with severely compromised immune systems, infants and some elderly may be at increased risk.
This is not an emergency. If it had been, you would have been notified immediately. Coliform bacterial are generally not harmful themselves.
The Village of Nemaha public water supply system is continuing to test and is working with the Drinking Water Program to identify the source of the problem and return the water supply system to compliance.
