Richardson County Commissioners Accept Resignation

Richardson County Commissioners voted unanimously Tuesday to accept the letter of resignation / retirement from Regina Cummings, County Assessor effective April 1st.  Commissioners then voted to advertise for resumes to be received until Monday, April 23rd, for consideration to fill the vacancy of the position of Richardson County Assessor for the remainder of the term of office through January 5th, 2015.
    In other action Commissioners approved the recommendation of the Noxious Weed Control Authority Board selection committee of the appointment of Joseph Wittwer as the Richardson County Noxious Weed Control Superintendent. 
      The Board met with Susan Phillips and Melissa Hardenberger with Southeast Nebraska Community Action Council.  They presented the 2011 Annual Report.  Commissioners approved a proclamation designating May as Community Action Month in Richardson County.
    Bids were opened for mowing the Courthouse yard and Armory grounds.  Bids were received from Sterling Lampe, Tyler Bek, Scholl Lawn and Landscape all of Falls City and ProLawn of Auburn.  Commissioners awarded the low bid from Tyler Bek for the combined bid of Courthouse yard with bagging and the Armory gounds at $160 per mowing.
    The Board approved the expense for a G-P-S tracking system on four county vehicles to be used on a trial basis for 90 days and approved an agreement with Southeast Nebraska Communications for a dedicated data line between the Richardson County Sheriff’s Office and Falls City Police Department for a $500 equipment fee and one time charge and a $100 per month lease fee.
    The contract with the Road and Bridge Department employees was not received by the Board prior to the meeting and will be finalized later.
