USDA Rural Development has announced that there is nearly $13.3 million in loan funds available to assist rural communities with their community facility projects.
Projects may range from a fire and rescue building and equipment to streets, utilities, community centers, library, senior citizen center, day care, airport, industrial park, hospital, clinic, nursing home, assisted living facility and others.
Those eligible to apply are non-profit groups, public entities including municipalities, counties, nonprofit corporations, special purpose districts and Federal Recognized Native American Tribes. The project must be located in a community with a population of 20,000 or less.
Recently the City of Auburn broke ground for the Auburn Memorial Library’s expansion. USDA Rural Development is providing a loan of $100,000 to the Auburn Memorial Library Foundation for the library expansion project. The library is adding 1,340 square feet, due to the increased use of the library.
