Brown County Humane Society members, last year, drove their personal vehicles a total of nearly 5-thousand miles, transporting animals in need to areas outside of Brown County; and, while a vehicle had been volunteered to assist with the effort, providing extra room to haul the animals, that assistance comes to an end.
Now, the Humane Society is seeking assistance to get the animals where they need to go(Play Audio :15 seconds)
That's Brown County Humane Society President Phyllis Shaefer who says strong thanks go out to the past assistance provided with the transportation effort(Play Audio :09 seconds)
With that support no longer in place, following the Hiawatha couple's decision to sale the ambulance service, Shaefer says the organization is seeking transportation of its own...and that's where public support is needed(Play Audio :26 seconds)
Shaefer says anyone wanting to help make the goal a reality should contact her(Play Audio :17 seconds)
Last year, 77 dogs and one cat required transport to rescue organizations.
Because of that effort, not one healthy shelter dog had to be euthanized.
