A special highway interdiction enforcement in Brown County leads to the arrest of five people on drug-related charges.
Brown County Sheriff John Merchant says officers with the sheriff’s department initiated the special enforcement Friday on U.S. 75 highway.
18-year-old Dominick Howard of Topeka was arrested on charges of possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, reckless driving and felony possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.
21-year-old Dylan Barrett of Oneida was arrested for possession of K-2 or Spice, a synthetic marijuana banned by the Kansas Legislature last year.
21-year-old Anthony Newcomb of Centralia was arrested on charges of possession of K-2 and possession of drug paraphernalia.
19-year-old Courtney Summers of Seneca was arrested on charges of possession of K-2, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving while license cancelled, suspended or revoked.
20-year-old Cory Whitman of Lansing was arrested on charges of possession of K-2 and possession of drug paraphernalia.
In addition, 61-year-old Victoria Castro of Horton was issued a citation for no proof of insurance and a child safety seat violation.
25-year-old Elaine Green of Horton was issued a citation for driving while license cancelled, suspended or revoked.
Assisting with the special enforcement were the Kickapoo Police Department, Kansas Highway Patrol and the Brown County Sheriff’s reserves.
