A trash truck-semi accident in Jefferson County Thursday evening sends a Centralia man to the hospital.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, the accident occurred on Kansas highway 16, five and a half miles west of Valley Falls at North Cedar Road.

A 2003 International semi driven by 38-year-old Kenneth Allen of Topeka was pulling a trailer southbound on North Cedar Road and entered K-16 highway when a 1997 Ford trash truck driven by 68 year old Day Hall of Centralia was westbound on K-16 and struck the semi’s trailer.

Hall was transported by ambulance to Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka with disabling injuries.

 Allen was not injured.

An occupant in the Hall vehicle, John Douglas of Netawaka was uninjured as well.

The patrol says all three individuals were wearing seatbelts.
