The remaining open teaching positions at the Hiawatha Elementary School have been filled.
Superintendent John Severin today ( Monday ) announced the hiring of six elementary school teachers.
Virginia Merkel from Robinson has accepted a contract as a first grade teacher. Merkel is currently teaching 2nd grade at Highland Elementary School.
Allison Noble from Falls City, Nebraska, has accepted a contract also as a first grade teacher. Noble is currently teaching kindergarten at Mound City, Missouri.
Erin Ross from Horton has accepted a contract as a second grade teacher. Ross is doing her student teaching at Blue River Elementary in the Blue Valley School District.
Sara Ronnebaum from Axtell has accepted a contract as a third grade teacher. Ronnebaum is currently teaching a combination 3rd and 4th grade class at St. Michael's School in Axtell.
Kelsey Lillie from Hiawatha has accepted a contract as a fourth grade teacher. Lillie has completed her student teaching at Bluemont Elementary School at Manhattan, and is currently working as a substitute teacher.
And Jennifer Gatz from Robinson, has accepted a contract as a fourth grade teacher. Gatz is currently the computer technology teacher at Doniphan West.
Severin says they still have three positions to fill for next school year. They include high school physical education teacher, School of Success teacher and district computer technician.
