The Atchison County Sheriff’s Department and Atchison Police were busy over the weekend attending to seven total vehicle accidents, two of which were injury.
According to Sheriff John Calhoon, deputies responded to six accidents from Friday evening until Sunday morning.
Two of which were injury accidents, which occurred within an hour of each other Saturday morning.

Calaho was transported to Atchison Hospital with moderate injuries.
Of the non injury ones, Deputies responded to one Sunday morning just after eight on highway 59 south of Atchison, Saturday evening at 6221 Ellsworth road in Effingham, a single vehicle accident at 6301 Phillips road outside of Atchison Friday evening, and a single vehicle accident Friday evening on 302nd road involving a deer.
Atchison Police also responded to a single vehicle accident around five Saturday evening in the 600 block of 12th Street.
According to Police Chief Mike Wilson, Jason Reno’s vehicle struck a light pole and his one year old daughter, Josie suffered minor cuts and bruises, but was not transported.
Both occupants were wearing safety restraints.
