The Pawnee City School Board took action during its meeting Monday on several recommendations from the Pawnee City Public School Foundation. That includes the awarding of the Foundation’s scholarships for the current school year.
The scholarships include 17 “Learn to Dream” scholarships, the $1,000 Ruth Marshall Scholarship; the $1,000 Hauner Agricultural Scholarship; five $1,000 renewable Thiemann Scholarships; 10 non-renewable Thiemann Scholarships; and eight $1,000 Pawnee City Public Schools Foundation Scholarships.
Superintendent Stephen Grizzle says the foundation has received a few contributions and endowments, and is stepping up its commitment and awarding more scholarships. (play audio :32)

The painting will be done the week after school lets out and the gym floor will be redone in July following summer camps.
Grizzle says the board approved the Pawnee City School District’s continued participation in the USDA’s Summer Lunch program, which is an extension of the school lunch program. (play audio :20)
Also Monday, the Pawnee City School Board authorized Grizzle to issue employment contracts to certified staff members other than those whose contract may be recommended for reduction, termination, or non-renewal.
The board approved continuing the wrestling co-op with the HTRS School District for the next two years.
And the board finalized the end of the current school year, with the final day of class scheduled form Thursday, May 17th.
