On a 6-0 vote with Council members Jerry Oliver and Kirby Robidoux absent Monday night, the Council approved the purchase of a 2012 Dodge Ram 1500, 4-door pickup for the Falls City Police Department.
The pickup will be purchased from Armbruster Motor Company at a cost of $27,595. That price was the lower of the two pickup bids submitted. The bid on a 2012 Ford F-150 was $30,586.
Two bids for cars were also submitted. One for a Dodge Charger at a cost of $27,196 and the other $26,195 for a Ford Taurus.
Police Chief John Caverzagie recommended the purchase of the Dodge Pickup and explained several reasons for getting another patrol pickup instead of a car. ( play audio :41 seconds )
Chief Caverzagie also noted that he had polled all of the Falls City Police Officers and all agreed their preference was a pickup over a car.
