Hiawatha Band To Perform In Chicago

Saint Patrick's Day will have a special meaning for 70 students at Hiawatha High School, as those band members travel to Chicago to perform in one of the most celebrated Saint Pat's Day parades in the nation.
Band Director Damian Johnson says the students set that celebration as their goal; and, with contacts secured and an audition complete, they are Chicago bound(Play Audio :20 seconds)
Two charter buses will carry the students from Hiawatha, to Chicago, departing on March 14th.
Although that date is still down the road, Johnson says student excitement is beginning to grow(Play Audio :17 seconds)
The parade is scheduled for high noon, on March 17th, on the streets of Chicago.
As the river in the windy city is dyed green, per tradition, the Hiawatha students will be getting set to show off their skills during the well attended, and widely watched, parade.
Following the performance, the students will board the buses and return to Hiawatha by the next day.
Prior to the parade, the trip will allow the students to view Chicago attractions, and events.
