Two men face more severe formal charges than they were booked for after a Wednesday police chase in Atchison.
Caleb Jones and Christopher Haskell both made their first appearance Friday in Atchison County Court.
The 26 year old Jones of De Kalb, the alleged driver in the chase, faces 11 charges from the incident including possession of marijuana with intent to distribute with 1000 feet of a school, a level two felony, possession of drug paraphernalia with intent to distribute, a level four felony, no drug tax stamp, interference with a law enforcement officer and fleeing and eluding a law enforcement officer.
He also faces misdemeanor charges alleged to occur during the chase, including speeding, reckless driving; driving left of center and three stop sign violations.
Haskell, 25, of Leavenworth, faces the same charges, minus the traffic offenses and fleeing and eluding a law enforcement officer charge.
The marijuana charge is alleged to have occurred at 4th and Atchison Streets, near the Atchison Middle School.
Bond was set at 65 thousand dollars for Jones and 50 thousand dollars for Haskell.
They remain in Atchison County Jail.
