A local Kansas legislator is co-sponsoring a bill that would allow smoking in bars.
Speaking at a legislative coffee and issues meeting in Hiawatha Saturday, Representative Randy Garber said he’s not working to get the whole statewide smoking ban reversed but to carve out an exemption for those businesses who employ and serve people age 21 and over....( play audio )
The Sabetha Republican and a dozen other House members last week introduced House bill 2690, which has been referred to Federal and State Affairs Committee.
The statewide smoking ban, which already includes several exemptions, took effect July 1st, 2010.
