The Holton girls shot lights-out in the first half grabbing a 48-18 halftime advantage including a 22-0 run. Sophomore Kyrstie Miller started and filled up the stat sheet including 10 points while Jayna Smith led the Lady Cats with 12 in their 41st consecutive victory. The Holton girls improved to 9-0 in the Big 7 this year with their state record 93rd straight league victory. Royal Valley drops to 6-9 overall following their fourth loss in a row. Mara Winter led the Panthers with 12 points and Chelsea Hodison added 10 before RV fell to 4-6 in the league.

The Holton boys stayed in sole possession of first place in the Big 7 League as Trent Tanking hit a trey with 1.2 seconds left to defeat Royal Valley. The Wildcats trailed on the road most of the game and faced a nine-point defecit twice in the third quarter. Tanking finished with 11 points including a trio of three’s. Jaxon Wright earned Player of the Game honors by also hitting three trifecta’s in the second half, including buckets to tie the game at 40 and 43 in the final minutes. Holton is now 13-2 overall and 8-1 in Big 7 play. Royal Valley got 12 points each from Nick Tuck and Caleb Barger (10 in third quarter) but committed six late turnovers and only hit 9 of 18 free throws in falling to 10-5 overall and 6-4 in the League.
