KCA Regional Meeting to Focus on Range Management and Newborn Care

Kansas Cattlemen's Association (KCA) will host a regional cattlemen's meeting in Scranton, Kansas to discuss industry topics on the evening of April 24, 2019 at 6:00pm. The meeting will take place at the Scranton Tavern. Kansas State University Research and Extension presentations will be provided by Dr. AJ Tarpoff and Walt Fick. The presentations and meal are free and open to the public. KCA will provide a presentation on organization information.

Dr. AJ Tarpoff specializes in Beef Cattle Production Medicine as an Assistant Professor at KSU and as a KSU Extension Beef Veterinarian. AJ returned to KSU in 2016 as the Beef Extension Veterinarian with a combination of extension, research, and teaching appointment. He will discuss beef cattle production branding procedures and newborn care. He will also discuss the normal calving process as well as tips to handle difficult calving situations.
As a member of KSU Extension, Dr. Walt Fick specializes in prescribed burning, range and pasture management, invasive species management, brush and weed control. He has a joint extension/teaching/research appointment at Kansas State University. His work focuses primarily on control of brush and invasive species in rangeland, prescribed burning methods, grazing management, and range improvement practices.

KCA is actively supporting independent producers in Topeka and Washington, D.C. KCA staff will update attendees on current legislative work and discuss other KCA projects.
