WANTED: Knowledgeable, Willing, Caring Volunteers!!!
Adults with knowledge in specific project areas are invited to Oskaloosa, December 27, for an evening of learning about specifics of becoming a county fair 4-H judge. Volunteers will learn the foundations of working with 4-H youth and see the specific evaluation criteria of project areas at this training. The evening will start with a meal and general session, followed by project specific breakout sessions that volunteers select to attend, to learn the specifics of that project.
This regional training will take place at the Oskaloosa Public Schools – USD 341, 404 Park St, Oskaloosa, KS 66066 on Thursday, December 27 – beginning at 5:30 pm and running until 8 pm. Project areas slated to be covered this year are: Foods, Yeast Breads, Table Setting, Fiber Arts – Quilting, Plant Science and Woodworking. This is the second year that a training like this has been offered, we hope to make it an annual event moved about Northeast Kansas. While developing a pool of newly trained fair judges is the goal, anyone is welcome to attend and learn more about the project areas listed.
Participants will need to RSVP, by December 20, to Ross Mosteller at the Meadowlark Extension District 785-336-2184 or rmostell@ksu.edu We will need to know your name, contact information, first and second choices for project areas of interest. Individual sessions may be cancelled if we do not reach a critical mass of participation.
This volunteer training event is a regional effort to expand the capacity of volunteers in the region. It is brought to you by K-State Research and Extension office in: Atchison, Brown, Doniphan, Leavenworth and Marshall counties and Meadowlark Extension District.
