Holton FFA Member Wins State FFA Creed
06/05/2017

A member of the Holton FFA chapter earned first place in the FFA Creed Public Speaking Career Development Event (CDE) during the 89th Kansas FFA State Convention, May 31–June 2, 2017, on the Kansas State University campus.

Cailin Parks is this year’s FFA Creed Public Speaking winner and received a plaque and cash award. After being announced as the winner, she presented the FFA Creed to members and guests in attendance at the opening session of the Kansas FFA Convention.

Members in grades 7 through 9 recite the five-paragraph FFA Creed from memory and answer questions about its meaning. The event boosts confidence and develops the members’ ability to communicate in a professional and effective manner.

Luke George from the Uniontown FFA chapter placed second in the Creed Public Speaking CDE, while Isabel Harmon of Arkansas City FFA placed third, and Kady Figge of Onaga FFA placed fourth.

Parks will represent Kansas at the 2017 National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana. The Creed Public Speaking award is sponsored by Kansas FFA Alumni.
