Professionals from throughout the region are invited to practice and employ leadership, communication and problem-solving skills during an interactive summit offered this month by Northwest Missouri State University.
Northwest will host the Premiere Leadership Summit from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, April 27, at The View at Briarcliff, located inside Courtyard Marriott, 4000 N. Mulberry Drive, in Kansas City, Missouri.
“We want to provide a solution,” said Rebecca Lobina, who is director of continuing professional education at Northwest and its Small Business and Technology Development Center. “This summit is going to focus on those top three issues that we hear about that managers, supervisors and upper level leaders need to have to be successful. These topics are important.”
Three sessions have been designed precisely to address top issues that leaders face. Speakers will employ case studies and role playing to emphasize verbal professional communication, problem solving skills and employee coaching techniques. Participants will learn how to coach employees using a proven methodology and 360-degree communication, including tips for speaking professionally to executives and colleagues.
Kathleen M. Randall, Steve Sewell and Steve Wenger – all of whom bring decades of experience in communication, counseling, coaching and teaching – will lead the leadership sessions.
Additionally, a luncheon speaker and storyteller extraordinaire will provide comic relief. Will Stuck has worked in a public library setting for more than two decades and become one of northwest Missouri’s most popular storytellers during the last 15 years.
Lobina said the day will be highly interactive.
“Northwest is about education first,” Lobina said. “We want to make sure we’re providing experiential learning, whether that’s for our students or the adults attending this summit. We want them to experience, role play and employ techniques to help solidify the learning that takes place.”
Registration is $497 per person or $895 for two people. Register by visiting https://goo.gl/pTW25f.
