U.S. Air Force Airman Van A. Vanover graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas.

The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.

Airmen who complete basic training also earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

Vanover earned distinction as an honor graduate.

He is the son of Alan Vanover of Topeka, Kan., and Elizabeth Vanover of Lowellville, Ohio, and grandson of Anthony Esarco of Lowellville, Ohio, and Geraldine Vanover of Hoyt, Kan. The airman is also the brother of Madison Vanover.

Vanover graduated in 2015 from Lowellville High School, Lowellville, Ohio.
