Candidate Forum Planned In Atchison

(KAIR)--Local and state candidates will answer questions Tuesday during a forum at Atchison's City Hall.

The evening forum, beginning at 7:00, is sponsored by the Leadership Development Council of the Atchison Area Chamber of Commerce.

According to a press release, candidates for the Atchison County 3rd District Commission seat, Kansas House of Representatives District 63, and 1st District Kansas Senate, will be included.

That includes Henry William Pohl, who is seeking re-election to the County Commission seat he currently holds as a Republican. According to Chamber of Commerce President Jacque Pregont, Pohl's Democratic challenger, Tom Mangimelli, does not plan to attend.

She says it's also unconfirmed on whether Republican Senator Dennis Pyle will attend, challenged is his bid for re-election to the 1st District seat by Democrat Jerry Henry, who has confirmed his planned attendance.

Both candidates for the 63rd District Kansas House seat, Democrat Brett Niebling and Republican Dr. John Eplee, are also planning to attend.

Tuesday evening's forum will be live streamed on the Atchison, Kansas Facebook page, and broadcast on local cable access channel 17. It will then be rebroadcast at noon Wednesday, at 6:00 on Thursday evening, Friday morning at 10:00, Saturday afternoon at 2:00, and Sunday evening at 7:00.

Voters November 8th will decide the outcome of numerous Federal, state and local races, including another for Atchison County.

That one includes a write-in campaign by Republican Sheila Bilderback who seeks to continue her role as Atchison County Treasured. She was defeated in the August Primary Election by Republican opponent Connie Ellerman.
