(KNZA)--The 102nd Annual Hiawatha Halloween Frolic begins Friday and will continue Monday, Halloween Day.
The theme this year is “ Nightmare on Oregon Street.”
Beginning at 3:30 Friday afternoon, will be the Business Trick-or-Treat and downtown Trunk-or-Treat
Trunk-or-Treat will then continue that evening between Noble Field and the Little Hands Daycare Center with fun, games and hot dogs.
Organizer Katie Miller, a member of the Hiawatha Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Bureau Board, says new this year will be a haunted house trolley tour Friday evening sponsored by the Brown County Historical Society, which goes hand-in-hand with their housing decorating contest.
Miller says trolley rides, which will begin at the Ag Museum on East Iowa Street, will be offered in the two contest categories—family friendly and spooky—with riders then voting for their favorites.
She says also added this year is activities around the courthouse square between the two parades Monday—including a chili cook-off, pumpkin roll and vendors.
The afternoon parade will begin at 3:00 and the evening parade at 7:00.
Prior to the evening parade, the 2016 Halloween Queen will be crowned on the north side of the courthouse square. 21 girls are vying this year for the title.
