Not Guilty Verdict in Child Abuse, Sexual Assault Case

(KLZA)--A Richardson County District Court jury returned “not guilty” verdicts on three felony counts against a Dawson man Friday evening.

28-year-old Joshua Nincehelser was charged with sexual assault of a child; incest and child abuse. He was arrested in June, 2015 following an investigation by the Nebraska State Patrol. The alleged offenses were to have occurred between January 2015 and March of 2015.

The jury deliberated for approximately three hours before returning the verdicts, following two-and-a-half days of testimony.

The Nebraska Attorney General’s Office served as special prosecutor in the case.

Nincehelser. a former Richardson County Deputy Sheriff, was facing life in prison.

He was on probation at the time of his arrest. That stemmed from a a June, 2014 case involving Nincehelser shooting himself in the arm, and firing shots into his patrol vehicle, but reporting that he had been shot while assisting a motorist.
