(KAIR)--A Wednesday afternoon Atchison County welfare check leads to a helicopter search, and reportedly two arrests.
According to Atchison County Sheriff Jack Laurie, concerns were raised after clothing, and other belongings, were discovered on a roadway near the Atchison County Lake.
Investigators, making an identification of the possible owner, contacted family members who said the suspected owner had been missing, and had not been to work for a short period of time.
The Kansas Highway Patrol was contacted, with the agency's helicopter used for an overhead search of the area.
Although no one was located, a vehicle, apparently belonging to the missing person, was discovered in Doniphan County.
Laurie says preliminary reports indicate two individuals were located by authorities in the neighboring county, with both arrested on possible drug charges.
Names are not immediately released as the investigation continues.
