(KNZA)--The Horton EMS will getting a new ambulance.
The Brown County Commission Monday approved the purchase of the new Ford F-350, 4 x 4, diesel ambulance from Osage Ambulances for nearly $82,000.
In other business, the Commission discussed with County Attorney Kevin Hill the sale of a building in downtown Hiawatha that was deeded to the county by the Brown County Historical Society for insurance reasons.
The Historical Society would like to sale the building at 518 Oregon Street, which currently houses Jack’s Trains.
According to state statute, Hill says any building valued at more than $50,000 must be sold at public auction. The building is currently appraised at more than $127,000.
Commissioner Steve Roberts will visit with the Historical Society and report back to the Commission at their next meeting.
County Clerk Melissa Gormley discussed with Commissioners the current county policy on jury duty. Gormley said the policy is vague and asked Commissioners for clarification.
Hill suggested county employees receive regular pay for time missed while on jury duty.
