(KAIR)--The push to expand KanCare is continuing, with the latest forum focused on the issue set to happen Wednesday evening in Atchison.
Held by the Alliance for a Healthy Kansas, the session is being held to discuss how the Governor, and the Kansas Legislature's rejection of expansion is affecting both the state and local communities.
According to a press release issued about the forum, the lack of expansion is having a negative impact on state jobs, economic stimulus and access to affordable health coverage.
The release says the forum will provide an opportunity for local business owners, faith leaders, doctors, uninsured workers, and other concerned community members, to discuss and learn more about the need for expansion.
The release says the decision by the Legislature has cost Kansas $1.2 billion and thousands of jobs.
Among those who will serve on the discussion panel are the CEO of Atchison Hospital, John Jacobsen, Atchison Community Health Clinic advanced practice registered nurse, Jackie Harris, Alliance Executive Director David Jordan, and Health Reform Resource Project Representative, Sheldon Weisgrau.
A similar forum was held in Atchison in May.
Wednesday evening's session will begin at 6:30 at the Trinity Lutheran Church.
