(KAIR)--An Atchison man requires helicopter transport following a Monday evening rollover crash on K-7 Highway.
Atchison County Sheriff Jack Laurie says 37-year-old Jeffrey Navinskey was behind the wheel of a northbound minivan, a half-mile north of 318th Road, when the passenger side tires of the van went off the right shoulder of the highway.
Laurie says it appears Navinskey over-corrected, sending the van into a westbound skid across both lanes of the highway. The van went into the ditch, struck some large rocks, and hit an embankment, which caused the vehicle to roll over at least twice, stopping on its top in a creek.
Navinskey was treated at the scene by Atchison County Rescue and EMS, and was then flown from the scene to the University of Kansas Medical Center, in Kansas City, Kansas, for the treatment of his injuries, which included a large, deep cut on his face.
The wreck happened around 6:15.
The investigation is continuing.
