(KAIR)--An Atchison man goes to the hospital after an alleged assault by multiple people.

“It was about 6:00 Sunday evening when officers responded to a disturbance in the 700 block of S Street,” said Atchison Police Chief Mike Wilson. “It had been determined that the 35-year-old victim reporting this case was acquainted with the three people now charged and it was determined the three had struck this man about the face and head. He did suffer some abrasions and bruises—and the three were charged with battery.”

Those cited for the alleged crime included husband and wife 42-year-old Jeanette and 44-year-old Brian Krier and their son, 22-year-old Dalton Krier. All three were issued notices to appear in court.

Wilson said the victim was examined and released after a visit to the Atchison Hospital.

The investigation into the cause of the alleged altercation is ongoing, but a phone call, and email, received by MSC News claim it followed what is said to have been an earlier altercation between the victim and a teenaged relative of the Krier's.

The Atchison County Sheriff's Office does confirm that an investigation pertaining to the alleged assault of a 13-year-old has been launched.

Although no names are yet released, Sheriff Jack Laurie tells MSC News a parent of the boy made the report to his office.

It's alleged that it happened Saturday, during a camping trip, at the Atchison State Fishing Lake.

The teen alleges that while inside a motor home, the suspect retrieved a sex toy and struck the boy in the face and mouth.

Laurie says the allegations remain under investigation, and is being handled as a battery case.
