County Approves New Road Near Frankfort
10/03/2016

(KMZA)--The Marshall County Commission has given the green light to the construction of a new road that will provide easier truck access from K-9 Highway to a new grain shuttle-loading facility near Frankfort.

The Marysville Advocate reports the Commission gave Farmers Cooperative approval last week to build a new gravel road from Tumbleweed Road to Utah Road.  The new road is to be called 20th Terrace.

Once built, the Commission has agreed if it meets county specifications it will be dedicated as a public road and maintained by the county.

Construction of the new road is expected to start as soon as possible.

In other business, the Commission granted permission for the Nemaha County Co-op to construct an anhydrous/fertilizer facility along U.S. 36 Highway near Axtell.

The Co-op has purchased 10 acres in Murray Township to locate the facility.  It will include a new 45,000-gallon storage tank, a truck scale and small office.

According to state law, the project needed the Commissioner’s approval.

The Nemaha County Co-op has purchased the Axtell Co-op.
