Sports Complex Burglary Sparks Investigation
09/21/2016

(KAIR)--An investigation is launched following the discovery of a burglary at the Atchison Sports Complex.

Police Chief Mike Wilson tells MSC News an officer on patrol, in the area of the 2100 block of Country Club Road, found that the concession stand had been targeted. "Forced entry had been made through a door to get into the concession stand. We're still trying to determine exactly what was taken, but we do know that a burglary did occur, and the theft of some items did occur."

Wilson says the crime was discovered during the midnight hour of Wednesday. "We believe that the burglary did occur late on Tuesday night. Our officers on the night patrol frequently check that area, as they do the surrounding area. Officers had checked it earlier in the evening, the burglary had not occurred, and then shortly after 12:30 they discovered it."

No suspects are yet identified, and police are seeking any information regarding suspicious vehicles in the area of the burglary.

Wilson says anyone with any possible leads on the crime are urged to contact his office.
