(KAIR)--Suspicious activity during an annual fundraiser lands one in jail on drug charges.
During the Atchison Fire Department’s Boot Block Fundraiser for Muscular Dystrophy Association, Interim Fire Chief Ted Graf told MSC News he noticed a pedestrian appear to reach his hand inside a boot containing cash.
“As the individual walked away, I noticed that he had a clinched left hand—indicating that he possibly had something in there,” Graf said.
Graff said they called Atchison Police for assistance.
Atchison Police Chief Mike Wilson said the suspect, 41-year-old Atchison resident Dotson Edwards, was questioned. During that time, officers did find methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia on his person. He was arrested on those charges as well as an outstanding failure to appear in court warrant, Wilson said.
He was not, however, arrested for the alleged theft.
