(KNZA)--The Hiawatha School Board Wednesday afternoon got a first hand look at the improvements made to the district’s schools this summer as part of a $9.2 million bond issue approved by voters in the spring of 2015.
In between the tour, the Board held two special meetings.
During the first meeting, the Board approved the purchase of a 10-passenger van off of the state bid for $23,790.
The Board also approved the hiring of a middle school volleyball practice coach pending the receipt of a donation to cover the cost, an early graduation request for William Entrikin and supplemental contracts for the 2016-17 school year.
During the second meeting, the Board approved the purchase of a new 2015 F250 diesel service truck to replace the truck totaled in a wreck in June.
About $31,000 of the cost will be covered through insurance proceeds and the sale of scrap from this summer’s construction projects.
