(KNZA)--Drivers can expect an increase of law enforcement efforts looking for drunk drivers now through Labor Day, September 5th.
The Hiawatha and Seneca Police Departments are among 150 law enforcement agencies across the state that are participating in the “You Drink, You Drive, You Lose,” campaign.
A grant through the Kansas Department of Transportation pays for the overtime of officers taking part in the enforcement.
According to KDOT, Kansas averages four persons injured every day, and one person killed every three days,in crashes where at least one of the drivers involved is impaired by alcohol and/or another drug.
Last year in Kansas, there were nearly 2,300 alcohol-related crashes, with 75 fatalities and 1,300 injuries
