(KNZA)--A motorcycle crash in west-central Iowa has claimed the life of a Circleville woman.
The Iowa State Patrol says killed in the crash early Friday morning on I-29 near Onawa was 23-year-old Dejanee Smith.
The Patrol says Smith was a passenger on a Harley Davidson motorcycle driven by her 54-year-old Daniel Smith, also of Circleville.
The Patrol says Smith was northbound when the rear tire on his motorcycle blew out, causing him to lose control of the vehicle, which slid off the highway and into the east ditch.
Dejanee Smith was transported to a hospital in Onawa, where she was pronounced dead.
Daniel Smith was taken by medical helicopter to a hospital in Sioux City, Iowa for the treatment of unspecified injuries.
The Patrol says the Smith's were not wearing helmets at the time of the wreck.
